Device Name: Electric Relative Density Meter

Applicable for particles with diameters less than 5mm. It is suitable for non-cohesive soil and particles ranging from 2 to 5mm. The sample mass should not exceed 5% of the total sample mass.

The maximum density and minimum void ratio of the soil are determined to calculate the relative density.

Electric Relative Density Meter Instructions

1. Plug in the power supply and turn on the power switch located on the right side of the device.

2. Lift the striker until the fixed pin is inserted into it to prevent it from falling. At this point, loosen the locking screws on both sides of the metal container, pull out the container, and load the soil sample according to specifications. Push the container back into place and tighten the locking screw. Then hold the striker with one hand and slowly pull out the fixed pin to lower the striker.

3. When the start switch is turned on, the instrument enters standby mode.

4. Adjust the timer to the desired time setting, and the instrument will begin operation.

5. After the test is complete, follow the procedures outlined in the Geotechnical Test Procedures (SL237-99, Relative Density Test SL237-010-99) to measure the results.

6. Once compaction is finished, lower the hoe, loosen the locking screw, and remove the metal container and casing.

7. After the test, clean any remaining soil from the device, turn off the power switch, unplug the power cord, and cover the dust cover.
