VR Daily News IMAX's recent moves in virtual reality continue. In October, it reached a cooperation with Europe's largest chain cinema, and will establish an IMAX VR experience center in Manchester before the end of the year. In November, it announced that it would join hands with a number of companies to invest $50 million in investment funds for the promotion of VR technology in IMAX movies and games.
At the same time, IMAX VR's first experience center has been piloted in a small part of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. In the early days, IMAX VR's design concepts, content and hardware technologies were introduced for potential partners such as theaters and production companies.
According to the plan, after Los Angeles, IMAX China will also have a corresponding VR layout. Robert Liszt, IMAX's chief business development officer, said in an interview with the domestic media that the planning points in China are as follows:
1. Pilot the IMAX VR Experience Center at least in two or three locations in China
2, will be differentiated for Chinese consumers, mainly in the content aspect.
3. The $50 million IMAX VR content fund has at least 15 million dedicated to China.
But IMAX also expressed a cautious attitude towards the VR Experience Center. After all, this is a brand new technology. Whether this new experience can be accepted by consumers is still unknown.
