According to foreign media reports, Liberium, the Spanish Internet of Things developer, launched the new enhanced Smart Parking Sensor Node at Intertraffic Amsterdam to continuously improve the quality of its wireless sensor network.
Libelium's new parking node has two different probing systems, including the dual-mode wireless communication protocol Sigfox/LoRaWAN, which can be installed with dedicated modules on the road or under the road.
The smart parking device can operate on a magnetically-detected (magneTIc detecTIon system) that supports a cloud software system that evaluates the received signal strength indicaTIon (RSSI) of the wireless network node.
If the vehicle is parked in the parking space, the system can perform correlation detection based on changes in the magnetic field and weakened reception of the wireless network signal. Under the best conditions, the dual sensor system has a detection accuracy of 99%.
The Sigfox version can be used in Latin America and Asia Pacific countries with bandwidths ranging from 915MHz to 923MHz. The system allows the use of two radio technologies simultaneously or between the two technologies from the cloud.
The new device is pre-programmed at the factory, allowing users to configure the device in just a few seconds with the help of Libelium's Smart Devices application, even if the user has no programming skills.
After completing the node installation, the Remote Setup System allows the user to control and re-recognize all parameters from the cloud. It is estimated that the intelligent parking node has a maximum service life of 10 years and can be operated without power outage, thanks to large-capacity batteries and low-energy software algorithms.
Libelium's smart parking technology has been successfully installed in major cities around the world, including Montpellier in France and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
