Littelfuse transient suppression diode array provides lightning induced surge and ESD protection

    Littelfuse has now introduced the SRDA05 family of SPA transient suppression diode arrays. Designed to protect telecom data lines from electrostatic discharge (ESD) and high surges, the SRDA05 Series offers up to 20% more power and surge handling than comparable devices on the market. By combining a low capacitance steering diode with an additional Zener diode , the SRDA05 offers a higher electrical threat design margin than industry standards while improving ESD protection without sacrificing performance.

    Typical applications for such devices include third-level (IC-side) protection telecommunications interfaces such as T1/E1/T3/E3 data lines, xDSL interfaces, RS-232/RS-485 interfaces, 10/100/1000 Ethernet interfaces, and Video line. They are also suitable for industrial equipment and medical device applications.

    "The SRDA05 family has the highest surge protection, power dissipation and ESD protection in today's equipment, enabling design engineers to be more flexible in designing larger margins based on industry standards and electrical threats." Littelfuse Transient Chad Marak, director of the suppression diode array family, said. "Compared to leading competitors, the SRDA05 series has higher surge ratings (30A vs. 25A), rated power consumption (600W vs. 500W) and ESD rating (30kV vs. 8kV)."

    The SRDA05 family of TVS diode arrays has the following key features and benefits:

    · Powerful surge protection: lightning strike, IEC61000-4-5, 30A (8/20μs); peak pulse power, 600W (8/20μs)

    · Low dynamic resistance (RDYN) is only 0.8Ω

    · Low capacitance 8pF (typ) from I/O to ground

    · Enhanced ESD protection: IEC61000-4-2, ±30kV (contact), ±30kV (air)

    · 20% higher power and surge handling than similar solutions on the market; providing higher electrical threat design margins than industry standards

    · Provides the best clamping voltage for today's sensitive chipsets to prevent catastrophic failures and maximize system reliability

    Capacitance is 20% lower than similar solutions on the market; helps maintain signal integrity and minimizes data loss during transmission

    · Enhanced ESD protection performance far exceeds the highest level of the IEC61000-4-2 standard (±8kV)
