On April 22, Philips announced its first quarter (January-March) earnings report for 2014. The financial report showed that Philips announced that its first quarter of 2014 revenue decreased by 4.5% to 5.02 billion euros; pre-tax pre-earnings surplus (EBITA) ) decreased by 21.9% year-on-year to 314 million euros; net profit decreased by 15% to 137 million euros.
In the first quarter of Philips, sales of the lighting division decreased by 4.2% year-on-year to 1.892 billion euros; EBITA decreased by 6.1% to 138 million euros. Among them, the sales of LED products increased by 37% annually, accounting for 33% of the sales of Philips Lighting, which was higher than the sales of 23% a year ago.
The reporter flipped through Philips' third-quarter earnings report for 2013. In the third quarter of 2013, the LED business in the lighting division grew by 33%, accounting for 30% of the overall lighting business.
