Batching electronic document file names into an Excel spreadsheet previously introduced methods such as batch processing or VBA code processing. In fact, under the Windows 10 environment, the tool-free, code-free bulk extraction of file names can be realized by only controlling operations with the mouse.
Assume that Jun collects hundreds of tools and stores them in a folder (Figure 1). The names of these softwares are now managed by Excel spreadsheets. We can use Excel 2016 in Windows 10 to use the following method.
1. Completely extract the path and file name
The first problem we faced was how to copy so many file names. In fact, to complete this task, simply open the software storage folder in Explorer, use Ctrl+A or Shift plus mouse click to select all files that participate in the aggregation, and then click the “Home†option The copy path button in the card function panel can be copied (Figure 2).
2. Inject the plain text path into the form
Start Excel 2016, open a blank table, click the right mouse button in the first blank cell in the upper left corner, under the "Paste Options", there is an icon containing the A letter, said "retain only text", click this ( image 3). As you can see later, the table is filled with a list of paths and all file names (Figure 4).
3. Excess path string batch elimination
However, you can see that in each row of the list, we have unwanted paths that we do not want. We can use Excel's batch replacement function to filter out redundant paths.
Select the path string "F:\Software Test\" and execute Ctrl+C operation; press Ctrl+H to start the replacement window, execute the Ctrl+V action to paste the path string in the "Find What" box; click "" Replace all buttons. After that, we can see that more than 200 items have been replaced, and the pure list of file names remains in the list (Figure 5).
In this way, we have completed the task of managing the directory of small software file names using Excel spreadsheets.
