Russian scientists find ways to improve magnetic sensors

    Sensor technology, information technology, and computer technology have been the three pillars of the development of high-tech industries. In recent years, the sensor industry has developed rapidly, and new technologies and new products have emerged.

    Scientists at the Kirinsky Institute of Physics at the Krasnoyarsk Science Center (Federal Research Center) of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences recently discovered a mixture of metals (ferromagnetics), oxides and silicon substrates (semiconductors). The structure has a high magnetoresistance value, the resistance of the structure can be changed with optical effects, and the voltage can be controlled by a magnetic field. The essence of this effect is that the electrons in the hybrid structure are more sensitive to magnetic fields as they move. With this feature, materials with specific magnetic permeability can be fabricated, electronic devices controlled by magnetic fields can be developed, and existing magnetic sensor performance can be expanded.
