Embrace the Internet of Vehicles, Wind River expansion vehicle software platform

Wind River®, the world's leading provider of embedded software for smart connected systems, today announced that it has completed the expansion and upgrade of the Wind River Platform for Infotainment, which is not only fully compatible with the GENIVI® Compliance 5.0 specification, but also includes A number of other enhancements have added new reference hardware applicability and work with ecosystem partners to improve data connectivity.

By applying Platform for Infotainment, customers can more quickly build a vehicle-friendly IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) platform that conforms to the GENIVI specification. Developing IVI systems Faces the demands of demanding and ever-changing industries. With decades of expertise in the automotive industry and industry leadership in the open source arena, Wind River can support technical teams to overcome the complex challenges that come with them. Specifically, the feature upgrade for Platform for Infotainment includes the following:

    · Available for the latest Renesas R-Car H2/M2 and NVIDIA Tegra K1 reference hardware. Both are next-generation, high-end IVI and SoC (System-on-Chip) for information systems, specifically for visual computing applications in automotive navigation, IVI and driver assistance systems. In addition to supporting the latest Intel® AtomTM SoCs, Platform for Infotainment supports a variety of other hardware platforms.

    · Integrated Tuxera file system solution to maximize data connectivity and plug-and-play interoperability with external data storage devices, and fail-safe design to prevent loss of user content during power outages and power drops.

    · User interface and graphical development enhancements that enable Wayland/Weston functionality.

In addition, Wind River has developed a number of proof-of-concepts that can centralize digital dashboards and IVI systems onto a single architecture or ECU (Electronic Control Unit). As automotive systems become more complex, the number and complexity of ECUs continues to rise. Wind River ECU centralization proof of concept not only saves space and power, but also changes the integration of hardware and software, greatly reducing complexity. This approach allows customers to centralize richer software features on smaller, more powerful hardware platforms.

Georg Doll, vice president of automotive solutions at Wind River, said: "As automotive systems become more complex, the importance of software is increasing to meet the ever-changing needs of customers. At the same time, new trends such as the Internet of Things and the Internet of Vehicles are also giving Bringing new challenges, companies increasingly need industry experts like Wind River with advanced software and integration expertise. However, there are few industry, automotive and embedded and open source software experiences like Wind River. A wide range of industry partnerships can help clients successfully complete increasingly complex projects."

The GENIVI-compliant Wind River Platform for Infotainment is an automotive IVI software platform based on the Yocto Project open source development infrastructure. The platform consists of a reference board, integrated software development and testing tools, and the Yocto Project toolchain component. Compatible with the Yocto project, the platform provides greater cross-platform compatibility and component interoperability, helping developers leverage open source capabilities for rapid innovation.

In addition to Platform for Infotainment, the Wind River automotive lineup includes: expert system integration services, multimedia and connectivity; iOS connectivity, fast start, AVB (Audio Video Bridging), Android, GENIVI expertise and solutions Solutions, TIzen Integration Services, Security Profile for Wind River Linux and VxWorks®; Wind River Diab Compiler, Wind River Simics® simulation and virtualization technologies. Extensive expertise and a complete product lineup allow Wind River's support for the automotive industry to encompass everything from infotainment and in-vehicle information services to digital dashboard display projects.
