Hamamatsu laser chip to a new level

As we all know, fiber lasers have become one of the most significant industrial lasers worldwide. Compared to semiconductor, solid-state, and CO2 lasers, fiber lasers now hold over 50% of the global market share. In 2016, total global laser sales reached $10.4 billion, with kilowatt-class fiber lasers used for metal cutting and soldering applications accounting for 41% of the total revenue in the industrial laser sector. This impressive growth has driven further advancements in pump-source semiconductor lasers. As these pump sources evolve toward higher power, the semiconductor laser chips themselves are also progressing toward greater power output and improved brightness. Hamamatsu has consistently been at the forefront of the laser market. Before August 2015, Hamamatsu completed a rigorous 20-hour long-term reliability test on its 20W chips, achieving a photoelectric efficiency of over 65%. The Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) of these chips is also close to 860,000 hours. In the second half of 2016, Hamamatsu introduced the 9XX series of semiconductor laser chips. These chips feature a unique P-plane structure, which reduces the risk of chip leakage, and employ an innovative vacancy-free disordering structure in the chip window design. This not only enhances conversion efficiency but also improves overall reliability. With the rapid expansion of the semiconductor laser chip market, Hamamatsu has continuously upgraded its product lineup and expanded its production capacity. A new facility called Miyakoda New Foundry, covering approximately 4,000 square meters, utilizes the latest manufacturing technologies and advanced equipment. Expected to be completed by the end of 2017 and operational in early 2018, this facility will significantly boost both the capacity and performance of Hamamatsu's products. Hamamatsu continues to push the boundaries of high-power, long-life, and stable performance across its product range. Today, the company offers more than just semiconductor laser chips—it provides laser modules, light sources, quantum cascade lasers, ultrashort pulse lasers, microchip lasers, and more. These products are widely used in various fields such as measurement, heat treatment, gas analysis, and integrated optics, including applications like distance measurement, plastic welding, brazing, automotive exhaust gas detection, and MOEMS. With a focus on innovation and diversification, Hamamatsu remains a key player in the evolving laser industry.

    Metal Halide Light Tower

A metal halide light tower is a portable lighting system that uses metal halide lamps to provide bright and efficient illumination in outdoor or construction sites. It consists of a tall tower with multiple metal halide lamps mounted at the top, along with a generator or power source to provide electricity.

The metal halide light tower is typically mounted on a trailer or skid for easy transportation and positioning. The tower can be extended to a certain height to provide wide-area coverage and can be rotated or tilted to adjust the direction of the light. Some light towers also have telescopic masts for additional height adjustment.

Metal halide light towers are commonly used in construction sites, roadworks, mining operations, outdoor events, and emergency response situations. They provide powerful and uniform lighting, allowing workers to safely and efficiently perform their tasks during nighttime or low-light conditions.
In recent years, LED light towers have become increasingly popular due to their energy efficiency and longer lifespan. However, metal halide light towers are still widely used in many industries due to their affordability and high-quality light output.
