In the summer of 2010, the plant plans to expand its monthly production capacity of blue LEDs from its Chiba branch (Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture) from the current 200 million to 70 million.
Since the LED light source contributes to the small size, thinness, and power saving of products such as home appliances, it is estimated that the subsequent demand is good, so Showa Denko has positioned the LED light source as a business with growth potential. It is understood that Showa Denko's plan to increase production is to use high-luminance blue LED chips with GaN as raw material, and in the future, Showa Denko will not further exclude the expansion of equipment capacity.
