Micron Technology, a US DRAM maker, is seeking funding to expand its LED manufacturing business while also considering the production of solar panels.
The US government of Idaho is optimistic about Micron's future performance and is actively applying to the US Department of Energy for a grant of $5 million from the state's Energy Resources Board.
Due to the loss of DRAM business, Micron simply cut off some of its production lines, and even the flash memory department was split out to Intel (Intel) co-combined enterprise IM Flash Technologies LLC.
Micron, which is interested in changing its operating focus, is gradually focusing on applications with similar technical standards and higher profits. In addition to image sensors CMOS and small displays, there are also high-brightness LEDs.
The report pointed out that Micron will develop prototype LED lighting modules within 3 months, and will enter mass production in the first half of 2010, and the production capacity will be fully opened in 2011.
