New scalable graphics terminal boosts productivity for small applications – PanelView 5310 graphics terminal provides machine manufacturers with the right size HMI solution

    Earlier, machine builders have tightly integrated HMIs with controllers in large applications to increase productivity. Today, with the new Allen-Bradley PanelView 5310 series of graphics terminals, manufacturers can fully incorporate these integration benefits into small applications.

    The PanelView 5310 Series graphics terminal is comparable to the availability of the PanelView 5500 and is superior to the Logix 5000 controller. Designed for applications requiring up to 50 HMI screens, these new terminals are available in 7-, 9-, and 12-inch displays. A 6-inch display model will also be available in 2018.

For example, engineers can now reuse controller alarms without creating HMI tags, which helps save configuration time.”

    Companies can also take advantage of the new product's more powerful integration capabilities to create high-speed jog buttons instead of inefficient hard-wired buttons. These buttons feature automatic diagnostics that interface with the controller at I/O speeds, helping to reduce downtime and increase productivity.

    The PanelView 5310 graphics terminal can also help companies increase productivity in other ways:

    With the intuitive Rockwell Software Studio 5000 design environment, users can create reusable panels, screens, and custom graphics to reduce development time. These objects integrate seamlessly with Logix custom instructions and various user-defined data types.

    With simulation capabilities, engineers can perform project commissioning in a development environment. This allows engineers to implement changes directly without the use of PanelView 5000 hardware, avoiding production disruptions.

    The VNC connection allows operators to remotely monitor production runs from a smartphone, tablet or PC. In addition, the product features historical trend analysis and data logging to help operators troubleshoot problems directly on the panel.

    Engineers can load projects directly from removable media to the PanelView 5310 graphics terminal, enabling faster recovery and updating of projects without the use of the Studio 5000 View Designer application.
