Realize the Energy Interconnection Demand Exploration and Open a New Model of Jointly-built and Shared Storage Energy Business

    Energy Internet represents a new paradigm in the energy sector, integrating the Internet with energy production, transmission, storage, consumption, and energy markets. By deeply merging information and physical systems, it redefines traditional, isolated energy systems, creating an integrated energy supply and utilization framework centered around the power system. This innovation effectively addresses key challenges such as bidirectional power access, fluctuating loads, idle energy assets, and low investment efficiency, transforming China’s energy production and consumption patterns while ensuring energy security. Energy storage plays a crucial role in the Energy Internet by enabling dynamic alignment between power generation and load curves. It helps stabilize fluctuations, balance supply and demand, reduce peak loads, and improve power quality. In 2016, the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Development of 'Internet+' Smart Energy (Energy Internet)" emphasized the importance of energy storage, encouraging its growth and expanding its application through both centralized and distributed models. However, despite rapid advancements in energy storage technology and increasing industrial scale, several challenges remain. These include unclear policy frameworks, high unit costs, low digitalization levels, poor user experience, and a lack of sustainable business models—factors that hinder the industry's full potential. From a technological perspective, current energy storage systems are largely analog, with continuous energy flows and separate digital information flows that operate independently. This lack of integration limits their performance and adaptability. As seen in other industries, analog systems are evolving toward digital ones, and the shift in energy storage is inevitable. Energy informatization technologies enable deeper integration of energy and information systems, leading to digitized and software-defined energy storage solutions. These systems can then connect with cloud computing and big data, allowing for intelligent management and control of energy resources. This improves automation and resource utilization, maximizing the value of energy storage within the Energy Internet. Moreover, digitization allows for the efficient use of fragmented energy storage resources, enabling a new business model based on the Energy Internet. Through battery exchange systems and cloud-based energy management platforms, large-scale distributed energy storage can be created, acting like a virtual Power Plant. The concept of "battery Uber" enables fine-grained sharing of battery assets, reducing costs and promoting a shared economy model. This supports broader adoption of energy storage and accelerates the development of the Energy Internet.
