Taiwanese students won the 2009 LED Design Award from Milan, solicited sponsorship from LED manufacturers to help Taiwan's light shine in Europe.

Topic: Industrial application in Taiwan, Xiao Shengyuan, a Taiwanese student pursuing the Domus Academy master's program, and LED lighting works created by his design team (Across the Universe), selected by the school to participate in the 2009 LED Design Awards Park Lighting hosted by the Milan City Government Project (LED Exhibition Design Award 2009 - Park Lighting). Due to the clever design concept, the park and the two churches were connected. After the award, the Milan city government hopes to implement it according to the original design or simplify it into an activity.



According to the student design team's vision, the base of the project is the only Parco delle Basiliche in the city of Milan, which connects two churches with a long history. Italy is a very important and devout Catholic country in Europe. People in church often have candles to make wishes and pray. Received from this scene, and the design group is from Asia, it introduces the oriental elements to make it reflect the Western culture, and conveys the meaning of wishing and praying. They said that the design used the skylights to create LED street lights in the park to meet basic lighting needs. On the shade made of frosted glass, the common vocabulary of all human beings is expressed in different transparency and language: people, enthusiasm, freedom, hope, love, happiness, peace, to establish a warm atmosphere and then connect the two church.

In addition, they also designed a set of semi-circular grass lights. In addition to being a daily lighting device, people can also use the sky lanterns that have just been blessed from the church to be cast into this. After people bring the sky lantern to the park, you can turn the grass lamp on, and put the rope on the face of the face on the sky lantern and then cast it. The purpose of this is to avoid the skylights flying to the surrounding ancient buildings and causing disasters. Secondly, as the ropes are pulled out, the brightness of the grass lights will also be weakened, allowing the skylights to become visual subjects.

In addition to the Taiwanese student Xiao Shengyuan, the design team members also include Cui Wei and Cui Yazhen from mainland China and Park Tianhong from South Korea. They have already made preliminary negotiations with the Milan city government, and the Milan city government believes that there are two ways to implement it:
1. Perform according to the original design
2. Simplify and cast a sky lantern in the square in front of the Milan Cathedral. The possible time is Christmas 2009.

Students point out that neither the city government nor them currently prefer the second option. Because the implementation costs have dropped significantly, the implementation location is also more ideal and more advertising effect. If it is executed in the second way, a box will be designed to place the sky lanterns, so when the Milanese citizens cast the sky lanterns, they can take the boxes home. At the same time, the box is also an LED fixture, and has a practical function, not just a souvenir.
