Vishay Releases First New Panel Potentiometer - P16S

    Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the release of the industry's first new panel potentiometer with variable resistors and built-in knobs, the P16S . The potentiometer is designed for military, professional audio, and industrial, compact, volume, speed, brightness, and voltage control applications such as portable devices, communications handsets, night vision goggles, and cab dashboards.

    Vishay Sfernice's release of the potentiometer is a revolutionary innovation in the field of panel mounted potentiometers with a small, fully sealed and sealed panel construction. Unique in its design is the use of knobs, including a cermet and conductive plastic potentiometer. Only the hardware mountings and fittings are placed on the back of the panel. This design makes the mounting clearance as small as possible, making it ideal for small size, low profile, and light weight equipment.

    The P16S is rated at 1W at +40°C, with a typical TCR of ±150 ppm/°C and an insulation strength of up to 2.5 kVrms.

    The sleeve length of the device is 7mm (15mm inside the device), the knob diameter is 16mm, and the temperature range is -40°C to +125°C. The device is RoHS compliant and lead free.

    The PA16S is a new potentiometer model with a conductive plastic core for audio applications and is also available.

    Samples are now available for the new potentiometers. The P16S NM with metal knobs will be mass-produced in June 2012, and the P16S NP with plastic knobs is available now. The lead time for bulk orders is eight to ten weeks.
