Heart sensor: use artificial intelligence to recognize facial expressions and convert the read emotions into digital signals

    According to James Consulting, CAC, based in Tokyo, Japan, has been offering a video analytics product since February 1, 2018: "Heart Sensor" (Ver.1.0), which uses artificial intelligence (AI)-based emotions. The recognition technique analyzes facial expressions and converts the read emotions into digital signals.

    Introduction to "Heart Sensor"

    The emotion sensor function of the "heart sensor" can analyze the expressions of the characters appearing in the movie, and can "read" the emotions of the characters from the film to form a digital signal output. Therefore, some commercial companies can use their own video data to solve various social research (such as customer satisfaction survey), user-side problems encountered in product development.

    The Heart Sensor is an emotional recognition by CAC using the Emotion Artificial Intelligence platform from Affectiva (headquarters: Boston, MA). Affectiva was independent from the MIT Media Lab in 2009 and has received support from a number of venture capitalists including Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers, Horizon Ventures, Fenox Venture Capital and WPP.

    "Heart sensor" features

    - According to the action of 34 face key points of the characters in the video/video, it can be quantified into 7 emotion values, 21 expression values, and 2 special index values.

    - In addition to the viewer, the analysis results can also be output as a CSV file.

    - Video analysis can be performed safely because the processing can be run in local mode that does not require an external network connection.

    How to use "heart sensor"

    - CAC leases software containing emotion recognition tools and certified software devices with periodic contracts (USB memory type authentication devices).

    - Users can analyze the target movie/video on a personal computer (PC).
