According to BISHKEK, July 23rd: Kyrgyzstan officially said on Monday that several companies led by Russian Rinko Holdings have proposed to build an aluminum plant in the country.
A government spokesman said the group, including Danish and Chinese companies, plans to invest $32.5 billion to build an aluminum plant, a power plant, a mining company and other plants.
“The shares of the company’s government in the project and the rights of investors will be later.†The spokesperson added that the agreement had been drafted.
The plant produces 500,000 tons of primary aluminum per year.
But Kyrgyzstan’s mining ministry official said that the project will take a long time to complete.
"The factory won't build right away... it's just an intention."
Rinko Holdings has not yet been contacted for comment.
