3DSystems and Philips Collaborate to Promote the Development of 3D Printed Medical Models

In a groundbreaking move, 3D Systems has introduced advanced virtual reality (VR) software that significantly enhances the visualization of digital 3D models derived from patient scan data. This innovation is set to revolutionize how medical professionals analyze and understand complex anatomical structures. At the RSNA Annual Conference & Exposition in Chicago on November 27, 2017, 3D Systems unveiled its D2PTM (DICOM to Print) technology, designed to enable clinicians and radiologists to quickly generate accurate 3D anatomical models from medical imaging data. The company also showcased its end-to-end additive manufacturing solutions at booth #1717, highlighting how these tools can optimize design and transform medical workflows. This new VR technology allows doctors to upload patient scan data directly into the D2P platform, instantly creating immersive 3D visualizations without the need for time-consuming preprocessing or segmentation. Compared to traditional flat-screen displays, this VR approach offers a more intuitive and detailed understanding of anatomical structures, making it a powerful tool for both routine diagnostics and preoperative planning. As part of its ongoing commitment to advancing medical innovation, 3D Systems has partnered with Philips to streamline the development of 3D printed medical models. This collaboration aims to enhance medical planning and improve patient outcomes by enabling faster production of physical 3D models that help doctors better visualize complex anatomy. During the conference, 3D Systems displayed anatomical models created using three different materials and technologies, including biocompatible resin models produced via SLA light-curing. These models are not only highly detailed but also safe for disinfection, making them ideal for clinical use. Dr. Evan Caffey, Chief of Plastic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center, praised the impact of 3D printed models in modern medicine: “Over the past decade, these models have become an essential part of surgical planning and guidance. With the launch of D2P software, we now have even more powerful tools to support precision and accuracy in complex procedures. This marks the beginning of a new era in personalized medicine and 3D printing.” 3D Systems continues to work closely with radiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to provide tailored medical solutions. These include virtual reality simulators, 3D printed anatomical models, VSP® (Virtual Surgical Planning), patient-specific surgical guides, instruments, and implants. Kevin McElla, Executive Vice President and General Manager of 3D Systems Metals and Medical Solutions, emphasized the company’s mission: “We are committed to delivering innovative tools that help medical professionals navigate the challenges of modern healthcare. Our precision medical and 3D printing solutions are designed to improve decision-making, streamline workflows, and push the boundaries of what's possible in medicine.”

    Eurostyle Terminal Blocks

Euroblock, short for "European-style terminal block"; is a combination of a low-voltage disconnect (or pluggable) connector and terminal block commonly used for microphones and line-level audio signals , and for control signals such as RS-232 or RS-485. It is also known as the Phoenix connector and comes from a German Phoenix Electric Company, which was established in 1981 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA. Also known as "Plug-in Terminal Blocks" or "Two-Piece Terminal Blocks".
