3DSystems and Philips Collaborate to Promote the Development of 3D Printed Medical Models

Industry-leading virtual reality software enhances the visualization of digital 3D models derived from patient scan data, offering a new level of detail and accuracy for medical professionals. At the RSNA Annual Conference in Chicago on November 27, 2017, 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD) introduced its groundbreaking D2PTM (DICOM to Print) technology, designed to help clinicians and radiologists quickly create precise 3D anatomical models from medical imaging data. During the event, 3D Systems also showcased its end-to-end additive manufacturing solutions at booth #1717, demonstrating how they can streamline design processes and transform medical workflows. The company’s latest advancements include a first-of-its-kind volume virtual reality software that allows doctors to upload patient scans directly into the D2P platform, instantly visualizing complex medical data through immersive VR without the need for time-consuming preprocessing or segmentation. This VR-based visualization offers a more intuitive understanding of anatomical structures and spatial relationships, making it an invaluable tool for routine assessments and preoperative planning. The technology is now integrated into the comprehensive D2P application, providing a seamless transition from imaging to 3D printing. In addition, 3D Systems has partnered with Philips to accelerate the development of 3D-printed medical models. This collaboration aims to improve surgical planning and patient outcomes by enabling faster creation of physical 3D models that help doctors better understand complex anatomy. At RSNA, the company displayed anatomical models made from three different materials using various 3D printing technologies, including biocompatible resin models produced via SLA light-curing, which are safe for disinfection. Dr. Evan Caffey, Chief of Plastic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center, highlighted the growing importance of 3D printed models in modern medicine. “Over the past decade, these models have become essential tools for preoperative planning and surgical guidance,” he said. “With the introduction of D2P software, we now have advanced tools that will significantly impact the medical field, ushering in a new era of personalized surgery and medicine.” 3D Systems continues to work closely with radiologists, surgeons, medical professionals, and educators to provide tailored precision medical solutions, including virtual reality simulators, 3D printed anatomical models, VSP® (Virtual Surgical Planning), patient-specific surgical guides, instruments, and implants. Kevin McElla, Executive Vice President and General Manager of 3D Systems Metals and Medical Solutions, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the evolving healthcare landscape. “We are dedicated to delivering innovative and adaptive tools that enhance clinical decision-making and streamline medical workflows,” he stated. “Our precision medical and 3D printing solutions empower healthcare professionals to overcome challenges and drive forward the future of medical technology.”

    Composite Terminal Block

The composite terminal is a typical representative of the connector (CONNECTOR), which is composed of a plug (female) and a socket (male) to realize the connection function. For the transfer of voltage, current and signal, this series is characterized by safe, reliable and stable contact, and is mainly used in electric power, communication, industrial control and other industries.
