Hon Hai proposes to grab the Apple AMOLED order from Sharp

In the tech details section, you'll find a range of components and specifications that highlight the product's advanced design. The core component is the **STM32L151CCU6** single-chip microcontroller, known for its low power consumption and high performance. Alongside it, there's a **3.2x2.5mm 3225 26MHz crystal**, which offers precision and stability for mobile applications. For protection, an **0201 package SLP0603 ESD diode** ensures reliable electrostatic discharge handling at 5V. Additional features include a **1206 RGB LED** and **0603 green components**, all contributing to the device's functionality and efficiency. While the visual elements are still loading, the underlying technology showcases a blend of innovation and reliability. This combination of components reflects a well-thought-out design aimed at delivering superior performance in modern electronics. --- According to Nikkan Industrial News, **Foxconn (Hon Hai)** has reportedly submitted a bid to acquire **Sharp’s facilities** in order to compete for Apple’s next-generation **AMOLED screen order**. The report, shared by AFP, suggests that Foxconn is targeting Sharp’s idle plants, such as the one in Guishan, to secure this significant contract. This move could be a strategic effort to avoid being sidelined from Apple’s future iPhone screen supply chain. If successful, Foxconn plans to start production in mid-2017. Additionally, it is reported that the company is exploring opportunities to produce **OLED panels for TVs** in a joint venture with Sharp and Shabu City. This collaboration could mark a major shift in Foxconn’s role within the display industry. Meanwhile, **Samsung Display** and **LG Display** have both announced increased investments in AMOLED production capacity, aiming to capture Apple’s upcoming **iPhone 8** screen order. This has pushed Foxconn to partner with Sharp in an attempt to prevent Korean manufacturers from dominating the market. Currently, **Japan Display Inc. (JDI)** and **Sharp** are key suppliers of **LTPS panels** for the iPhone 6s. However, they have not yet caught up with the Korean giants in AMOLED development. Samsung Display has already shipped AMOLED screens for smartphones, while LGD has made inroads into both TV and Apple Watch markets. With Apple potentially adopting **AMOLED screens** for the iPhone 8 and moving away from LTPS panels, Samsung and LG are investing heavily—between **250 to 300 billion yen**—to build new AMOLED production lines. This aggressive expansion aims to secure Apple’s next big order. However, JDI and Sharp are still in the early stages of AMOLED development. While JDI claims it will launch AMOLED products by 2018, its progress lags behind the Korean competitors. Sharp, on the other hand, has been hindered by financial difficulties, limiting its ability to advance in AMOLED technology. Despite these challenges, Sharp retains valuable **AMOLED patents and technology**. If it can secure funding from Foxconn and gain strong support from Apple’s largest assembly plant, it may still have a real chance to win the **iPhone 8 AMOLED screen order**. This partnership could reshape the future of display manufacturing in the tech industry.
