The mysterious MR startup company Magic Leap, a company with a high valuation, acquired the 3D department of Swiss software company Dacuda. Alexander Ilic, the founder of Dacuda, also joined Magic Leap and is responsible for Magic Leap's Swiss division.
Last week, Dacuda released a secret blog post that hinted that the company is detaching its 3D department and focusing on other projects. Then, Dacuda will play a role in Magic Leap's great vision. Dacuda uses its SLAM scanning software and a technique called sensor fusion to perform 6-DOF 6-DOF room-scale tracking. Xiaobian has reported that an ordinary iPhone with only Dacuda software and no other changes can achieve room-scale tracking. That is, any device with the necessary internal sensors and Dacuda software can perform the same room-scale tracking. Now, Magic Leap has incorporated Dacuda's technology into its hardware and software stack to help achieve "world-scale" 6-DOF tracking.
