Molex Expands Heavy-Duty Connector Portfolio in Industrial Automation

    Molex recently expanded its heavy-duty connector lineup following the acquisition of the GWconnect® product line from Westec Srl, an Italian industrial connector manufacturer. The GWconnect series is designed to deliver exceptional mechanical strength and resistance to vibration, making it ideal for power, control, and signal circuits in demanding industrial environments. The GWconnect connectors are UL/CSA certified and meet IP66, IP67, or IP69K (EN 60529) standards, making them suitable for applications exposed to harsh conditions, including corrosive materials or frequent cleaning. These connectors are widely used in control panels, robotics, industrial automation, food and beverage processing, rail systems, commercial vehicles, and renewable energy equipment. Rixy Comini, Business Development Director at Molex, stated, “The GWconnect connectors complement our trusted Brad® solutions and enhance our industrial automation portfolio.” He added that these connectors are built to perform reliably in even the most challenging industrial settings. Manufactured from die-cast aluminum alloy with a polyester powder coating, GWconnect connectors offer a range of housing materials and mounting options. Their inserts are made from UL 94V-0 thermoplastic material, and they support various terminal types such as screw terminals, terminal blocks, spring terminals, crimp terminals, and plug-in options. Special gaskets provide additional protection against dust, moisture, and chemicals. The contact pins are crafted from hard silver or gold-plated copper to ensure high reliability and performance. A full range of stamped crimp terminals in reel packaging is available for automated crimping applications. Additionally, the sealed GWconnect system features a reliable brake lock mechanism that prevents accidental disconnection. Comini emphasized, “Whether customers require specialized applications or consistent connection performance in high-volume automated assembly lines, Molex’s heavy-duty connectors deliver outstanding performance in even the toughest industrial environments.”
