In the realm of technology, OPPO has made significant strides in 2015. According to Sina Technology News, on January 28th, Beijing time, foreign media reported that OPPO announced its annual mobile phone sales for 2015 reached 50 million units, marking a 67% year-on-year growth. This impressive performance placed OPPO among the top ten global smartphone manufacturers in the third quarter of 2015, as per Gartner data.
Among the top ten, six were Chinese companies: Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi, TCL, ZTE, and OPPO itself. The R7, R7S, and R7 Plus models accounted for 15 million units of the total 50 million sales. Compared to other major brands, OPPO sold 58 million fewer phones than Huawei, 25 million less than the second-largest, 10 million more than vivo, 30 million more than Meizu, and 45 million more than LeTV.
According to Digitimes Research, in the fourth quarter of 2015, Chinese smartphone manufacturers collectively shipped 69 million units, representing a 25.6% increase compared to the previous year. Huawei led with 27 million units, followed by Xiaomi, TCL, and OPPO in the next three positions.
OPPO is well-known for its mid-range smartphones like the R7 and N1. Throughout 2015, the company actively expanded into international markets, especially in Southeast Asia. Sean Deng, OPPO's managing director, emphasized the company's focus on overseas growth.
The Chinese smartphone market was filled with exciting developments in 2015. Alongside OPPO’s success, Xiaomi sold 70 million units, falling short of its targets. Meanwhile, Huawei gained global recognition through Google’s Nexus 6P, and Lenovo fully integrated Motorola’s operations into its own business.
